Welcome to this week's Motivated Monday.
Tomorrow I will be linking up to the Room by Room Christmas Tour
at Cottage and Vine
I hope you will join me there. It is such a fun way to see everybody's festive tweaks and get some great ideas for next year but for today it is all about the Motivated Monday party right here at BeColorful.
There were some incredible posts linked up here over the past week.
I wanted to draw your attention to a few I thought were particularly intriguing.
Earlier this year I featured Mollie's Mom and her Halloween Totem.
I thought this Christmas version she did for a client's Gingerbread themed party was equally fun.
I love that it is made out of trays and the middle one is painted up with chalkboard paint so the message can be changed out. So clever.
I was also fascinated by this tutorial on the distressed mirror technique that was submitted by Sweet Girl Expressions.
With a little Lime Away and a mirror she was able to recreate this Antropologie knock off of the silvered mirror revealing the aged looking paper behind it.
Totally cool.
Art Journals have always intrigued me so I loved reading how this blogger was refining her mixed media techniques. This post is in Dutch but can be translated to English through Google Chrome.
I also thought that this Christmas Countdown Garland
linked up by
was absolutely perfect for this time of year.
She made this great looking garland and each numbered square has a special project to do that day to celebrate the holiday season.
Love it. Wish I had done this when the kids were young.
Really, I should probably do one for myself now. Maybe that way I could stay on track.

This next project is definitely on my bucket list of to-do's.
Wine cork key chains via
These would make such great hostess gifts or a fun way to commemorate a special evening or event that was celebrated with friends. Just click on her link above to find out how they are made.
So, I mentioned that tomorrow is the
BeColorful Christmas House Tour and that I will be linking up over at Cottage and Vine.
I was feeling pretty good about my holiday flair until I looked at some of my photos.
We've made some changes around the house this year and what worked last year didn't really work as well this year with the new or rearranged furniture.
Do you ever think something is looking fine until you see it in a picture and then you are able to look at it through the camera's eyes and notice what is off? Well this happened to me a lot this time around but I will be showing them to you any way. Hey, I will just look that much better or " much improved" next year.

These amazing home tours that linked up here to Motivated Monday didn't make me feel any better about myself.
They just confirmed that it is time to step it up and rethink what I have been doing.
Thank you ladies for linking up to Motivated Monday and Motivating Me because
I absolutely gasped with awe when I saw this fabulous fuchsia and green tree of my dreams over at
Her whole house is to die for.
I'm bananas for those explosions of color against that chocolate brown wall.
Be sure and stop by her blog. She is a woman after not only my heart but my soul too with her multiple trees in varying colors.
Then Worthing Court had me again this week.
I love her stuff.
This week she wrote about donning her front porch with holiday spirit.
I had to pin that pillow on my Pinterest board.
I am so copying it. I hope she is good with that. :0
I just want to punt everything I've done and start over. Just kidding, a little.
