The change in the seasons is my favorite thing about living in the Midwest. There is something exhilarating about the reds and yellows of fall, the crisp air and the smell of a fireplace.
Yeah yeah yeah. The REAL reason I love the change of seasons is I get to pull out a whole different wardrobe!
It is so much fun to rediscover some of my favorite pieces from last year
and who doesn't like adding new purchases to their closet?
and I thought I had the perfect solution.
I spoke to soon.
The spring loaded hangers that I bought for my boots from The Container Store looked nice for about a month. The problem was that pulling my boots over jeans and leggings must have stretched them just enough that the spring loaded hangers wouldn't grip the boots anymore and they would slide off and I would come back to discover a heap of boots all piled up on the closet floor.
I gave this some thought over the summer and started researching some boot storage possibilities like this one...
Now I have to say I would probably sell out my best friend for this storage unit but with my limited space this isn't an option so I guess she is safe.
Is is just me or do you hate this woman just a little bit for having all those boots AND the room to store them like that?
This next image gave me the idea of building out a single high shelf on one wall of my closet but that would mean waiting for my hubs to get around to doing that for me. Besides, convincing him seemed like a whole lot of work so I moved on.
This pre-made boot rack, seen below, would be an easy fix but I really don't have much floor space. Plus I would rather have the boots at eye level so I can see them better.
I have never been a fan of the boot hangers that involve clips. I can't help but think that this would eventually mar or dent the leather. Cross this off the list too.
So when I saw this Real Simple Over the Door Boot Rack I knew I had landed on my perfect option.
I only wish I had more doors for more boots. LOL. I'm still restraining myself with a new boot in means an old boot needs to move on.
I was going to order this rack on-line but then I discovered that it was also at Bed Bath and Beyond AND it was on sale for only $19.99
Boot storage problem fixed and for less than twenty dollars!
