I've been told to not make a mushy post and really that's not who I am anyway but I did want to give a nod to my hubby who worked all last weekend to help me make my studio just that much better. I couldn't have done it without him and I am so grateful for all of his efforts.
We stopped at the Lowes in Dubuque on our way to Galena a couple of months ago and I saw these cupboards that I thought would be great for my work space. I didn't want to put a lot of money into this project because we are thinking we might sell this house in a couple of years. So when I saw these garage cupboards I thought they would be perfect. They were only about $100.00 each and they are 48" wide and 24" deep with plenty of storage space. I thought if I put two of them together and added a countertop they would make a fabulous extra long work space.
When I went to the Lowes here at home they didn't carry this item so my McDreamy went all the way back up to Dubuque earlier this month to pick them up for me. He got the last two they had. When we opened the boxes one top was broken and one of the hinges in the other box had been crushed. I was a bit disappointed but figured once we got the countertop on it would be okay. Mike was determined to make it work and here is the finished product. These are not what you would call quality pieces and although they look simple they were a bear to put together. I have a new appreciation for how easy the Ikea stuff went together. I may add some trim molding to these down the road but for now I think it is going to be a great storage and work station addition. Lucky me.
