Look what came in the mail yesterday. I am soooooooooooooo excited.
Some of you may remember that I decided to pull together my studio space this past summer after my youngest left for college. The poor kid. I don't think he had even unpacked before I had the first coat of paint on these walls.
I had been dreaming about my own space for a couple of years and it was a great diversion so I didn't have to think about the fact that my 6' 4" baby wouldn't be bouncing down the stairs two or three at a time every morning or plopping down in the old green velvet chair in my office for one of our many late night chats. I knew I was going to miss him so the best thing for me was to channel myself into a creative project. I had been looking at images of studios for several months and one day the author of one of my favorite inspiration blogs actually posted photos of her studio. It was love at first sight for me. Had this woman and I been separated at birth? I just love all the color in her art and when I saw the studio I knew what direction I needed to go. In fact, I lifted this picture from her blog and it was my desktop picture for several weeks as my motivation as I labored through the birth of my studio.
I am really happy with how my space turned out. The only thing it was lacking was a piece of Kathy's art. So, while I was supposed to be doing some on-line Christmas shopping I jumped over to her blog and noticed that she had put some items up for sale. Hallelujah ( hear music here ) the heavens opened for me. I had to have something from this collection. It so happened that this was only one of several Christmas gifts I would buy from me to me. I am so bad about that. Then Kathy had one of those nightmarish things happen (her email was hijacked) and so it took awhile to get our communications back on track but we got it together and I couldn't be happier.
I had actually seen this piece several months earlier on her blog.
I was drawn in by the colors, the argyle pattern and the message. It just made me happy. Then as if my world wasn't already complete she sent along a couple of prints of some of her other pieces. It would be fun to pull them together in a grouping.
I feel a little bit like that old commercial where the girl says,"Don't hate me because I'm beautiful". In this case I want to say don't hate me because I have such cool art because seriously, you know you are just a little bit jealous :)
In case you didn't click on the embedded link above be sure and visit her blog by clicking here it will leave you feeling inspired. You can also see more of her work here.
I only have the one piece framed so far but I think it was just the touch that this space was missing. I wish I could get a better picture without the glare. Now that young man that forfeited this space was here today (around lunchtime of course) he could photoshop this for me but unfortunately he isn't here now and I haven't figured that whole thing out yet. So this is the best I have for now. It is just so much more amazing in real life. Thanks Kathy.
