Melissa at The Inspired Nest and The Tablescaper are having a link party.
This is my first time to be at these parties. I hope you have time to join us for some great fall decor ideas.
I got up today and thought, "This is the day I am going to switch out my summer decor for fall."
I thought it wouldn't take long.
I had a pretty good idea of where I was headed.
Or so I thought.
I liked it last year.
I'd probably do something pretty similar this year.
These are some images from last year.
I can't seem to find that wreath.
I wish I could.
I still like it.
I've added pieces to our home that mean I will have to change up my decor from last year
and I've replaced some pieces too.
Like that dresser.
I sold it shortly after I took that picture.
That look won't be happening.
This one is a bit too subtle.
Some of my things I still like
but when I pulled out the two tubs of fall flair I was sorely disappointed.
Things looked tired, old school, boring.
I was psyched to see these pumpkins again though.
I hope they still light up.
Like I said, things have changed a bit here and what I did last year just won't fly this time around.
Candles are always good but these candlesticks are long gone.
I was tired of them.
That's the beauty of buying things cheap.
You don't have to be married to them.
I like to decorate with lights.
Some of them are no longer working.
I tried replacing bulbs and thought, "screw it."
I also have a butt load of silk flowers and fall leaves.
I am a faux flower addict.
Really, I am but I have been in rehab and I haven't bought any more in quite some time.
Can I have an Amen here?
I knew last year and the year before that that they are supposedly tacky but I didn't care and frankly there are some that I still like.
I've said it.
There are fake plants in my house.
I admit, there are still too many.
I've edited but there are some that I really still like and can't part with.
I like that curve, the soft edge, that organic element.
Where I live if you want flowers you either need to be independently wealthy or resort to the fake stuff.
I did the latter.
As I look at all of this crap though I realize I must not be very inspiring.
Fake stuff in a vase is not what I would call creative genius.
I'm tired of the same old thing.
I also think I don't need as much fall flair.
Just a touch.
Not too much.
I'll think of it as adding earrings to my usual outfit.
Kind of like this.
but something with some fall style.
So I feel like I didn't accomplish anything today other than make a huge mess.
Tomorrow is another day though.
So please stop by again.
Hopefully I will have something more inspiring to share.
