Yesterday I posted about the updates to our master bedroom in this Ode to Chintz house.
This was the house that barfed up Waverly.
Nothing wrong with Waverly prints...
in moderation.
Remember all these blue bows in the master bed room?
This room probably has 20 foot ceilings.
A lot of bows,
but it didn't end there
because
this room, the bath, has soaring ceilings too and this same paper covered every inch of wall space in here also.
Even the little make up chair was upholstered in Waverly
but at least not the bow pattern.
Waverly must not have made bathroom accessories in this grouping or I'm sure we would have had them.
Oh well, we did get every possible piece in this lovely pierced brass version.
Yes, I am being sarcastic.
In case you didn't read the last post let me explain that we bought this house entirely furnished. Accessories and everything. Right down to the kleenex boxes, wastebaskets, and makeup mirrors.
I make fun of a lot of it but it really was a pretty sweet deal.
Everything was in pristine shape so we took what we didn't want or need to a consignment shop and used that as seed money to start saving up for improvements we would make along the way.
After removing wallpaper and replacing some of the chintz and moire upholstered pieces in the house and adding our own tchotchkies, we were
content for quite awhile.
Then in 2007, the same year our daughter was getting married and getting married here in Galena,
we decided to tackle a major remodeling project.
Crazy is as crazy does.
It started here in February of that year with the master bath.
It took six months to complete but it was well worth it.
Even though the construction crew was literally here at the house cleaning up after themselves the Thursday before the wedding.
Nothing like a little pressure.
:)
The only things left of the original bath are the doors leading in and the tub.
The rest is like the Montgomery Gentry song...
"gone like a freight train, gone like yesterday"
( Side note - didn't you love Scotty McCreery singing that a few weeks back on A.I.?)
Oh,
...and I cried when James went home.
But I digress.
Sorry.
:)
So anyway, here is our master bath today.
I would love to see fluted glass doors here instead of these paned ones.
It would be more in keeping with the look we are going for and give us more privacy if someone is in our bedroom.
Maybe in a few more years. :)
Who would have thought we'd find such a great tile guy in this little berg?
We picked out the tile and he took it from there.
( before I moved the body wash bottle hehe)
The fireplace is two sided with the other side facing the bedroom.
It is pretty fantastic to soak in the jetted tub, sipping champagne and being hypnotized by the fire.
Don't hate me too much though because really, I think that has happened three times in nine years.
We turn the gas off fairly early in the season
and I hate cleaning the tub.
How is that for reality?
Now that we are editing out the red and adding the black, it will be fun to add some of that bold drama to this space too.
So,from this
to this
I think we did okay.
xoxo,
P
I will be linking up our bathroom remodel here:
