We Interrupt This Blog

I know I haven't been blogging and yes, everything is fine. Very well. In fact, on Christmas Eve my husband surprised me by flying home our son who has been in Japan for 675 days or 96 1/2 weeks or 22 months and 6 days. Anyway you look at it it has been a very long time. Too long. It was so amazing just to have all the kids together at once. That hasn't happened for three years. Fortunately Liz remembered to take a picture. Then, if that wasn't enough James surprised me yet again by bringing home this beautiful girl who will make a wonderful addition to our family. Lucky us right? James is only here for two weeks and then it is back to Tokyo for more schooling. So, I know you will understand when I say life takes priority over blogging. Happy New Years to all and I will be back in about a week.

I apologize for my tardiness so in the interest of economical use of everyone's time I will kept my commentary here to a minimum. I actually considered taking a hiatus this week but when I saw some of the AMAZING ideas that had been linked up I just HAD to share.

Please say a prayer for the families and friends of the victims in Connecticut. Their grief is beyond comprehension. We should not live in fear but recognize once again how precious life is. There isn't one easy answer to this issue of violence and there isn't a simple solution. It is a combination of a faster and more secular lifestyle, disengaged families, violence in television and video games, guns that are not under lock and key, and holes in our mental health system. Evil will always exist and knee jerk reactions are not the answer. First we must grieve, then we will be angry, but in the end I pray that cooler heads will prevail and we will be able to come together with ideas and solutions that will keep our families safer.

Welcome to another installment of Holiday Highlights here at BeColorful. A series dedicated to bringing holiday flair to all the rooms in your home.

It's the holiday season so have some fun with it. Why stop with the tree and mantel? Have you considered decorating your office or craft room? Apparently others have because there were some fabulous images and ideas out there on the internet. This lighted monitor garland from Squidoo definitely made me smile.

This is where you get to put your own stamp on a look and bring out colors and elements you might not otherwise use. It doesn't matter how far you take it as long as you have fun with it and let your imagination take you to new places.

Motivated Monday December 10th

 

Ahhh December. A wonderfully crazy time of year. It was a great but busy week here. Unfortunately it was a bit too busy for me to comment on all of your post links but I so apprereciate them and did visit each one. Your ideas and projects are always so amazing. Holiday Highlights at BeColorful - Dining Rooms

 

Welcome to the Holiday Highlights LInky Party here at BeColorful.

Today it is all about dining rooms and how to add a bit of holiday flair and fun in new ways or updated versions of some tried and true ideas.

 

 

Obviously, you will want some sort of centerpiece on the table.

I think this concept of tiered colorful Christmas trees and toppers makes a terrific statement and would be sure to garner some attention.

You can also bring interest to each place setting with a simple wrapped gift on each dinner plate. The all white tablescape is stunning and elegant. I like how the silverware is resting on the plates. Little touches make such style statements.
